Clallam Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP)

The HMP should more explicitly address climate
hazards and mitigation

The “big one” is expected to strike sometime within the next 2 centuries…but climate change has already struck and will worsen over the next several decades, causing disasters on the same order.

OCA members collaborated to review the County’s draft Hazard Mitigation Plan Update, noting the intensifying effect that climate change will have on the majority of disasters, as well as the common steps needed to mitigate all such disasters. We believe the HMP should more explicitly recognize climate threats and mitigation measures.
