The Twenty Seventeen Theme includes a Front Page Template that can display up to four Pages as part of the scrolling Front Page. These designated Pages can be easily changed in the Customizer.
In My Site, select Design — Customize — Theme Options
Note: Wait for all the features to load. Theme Options will eventually appear under Homepage Options.
Using this Front Page template, the Front Page and up to four other pages can be displayed. Select them from the drop-down lists.
The Pages, all five of them, are edited using the Page Editor on each Page individually. Changes made in the Editor will be updated when the Front Page is displayed in a browser and updated using F5.
We use the One Column display option. This gives us maximum width for our Pages and Posts.
Placing Widgets in the Sidebar will cause blog Post displays to be narrower.
Placing Quote Blocks in the Post will cause the display of Posts to be different also.
