Dear all,
Thank you very much for your support for the Global Call on Banks and Fossil Banks No Thanks! We’re really excited to have you on board.
Now that the Fossil Banks No Thanks (FBNT) website is up and running, we would like to highlight some platform-related activities and news. We intend to update you on FBNT activities and news more often in the future.
Events
Fossil Banks No Thanks Platform members can showcase their events and actions focusing on fossil banks on the website. There are a number of events coming up, including:
- The London Climate Action Week (LCAW). The LCAW is still in full swing this week. LCAW is an annual event bringing together climate professionals and communities to find practical solutions to climate change. You can still register for a lot of interesting webinars and workshops;
- A Week of Art Actions to Defund Line 3 by Stop the Money Pipeline and NDN Collective. Line 3 is a proposed pipeline expansion to bring nearly a million barrels of tar sands per day from Alberta, Canada to Superior, Wisconsin. In the week of July 12th-18th, activists all over the US will organize art actions & protests at the branches, offices and headquarters of the banks funding Line 3;
- A series of Summer Action Circles by Banking on a Better Future. Banking on a Better Future, a youth led organization building pressure on the big 5 Canadian banks, are organizing a series of 5 workshops on bank divestment held bi-weeky throughout the summer (June 28th- August 23rd).
We hope you can help amplify these in your own networks and perhaps participate!
Connect
There are a number of ways in which you can follow the activities of Fossil Banks No Thanks and its members. You can follow the FBNT twitter account here. We have also made a twitter list of all member organisations here, to make it easy to follow and amplify their content. And don’t forget to follow us on Instagram!
Global Call on Banks
The Global Call on Banks demands that all banks acknowledge that their continued support for the fossil fuel industry is incompatible with saving the planet from climate breakdown and to urgently take steps to end that support. We’re looking for as many organisations as possible to join this Global Call, sending a clear signal to all banks. So please share the Call in your network and help us significantly increase the number of supporters by the time of the Glasgow COP!
Lastly, we are continuously working to further improve the website. Please let us know if you have any feedback!
