Susan Jane and Kyle will review how we will actively use the power of the law to hold the Biden administration accountable and repair the damage inflicted by the Trump administration. A Conversation About Beavers
Beavers are incredible critters that provide us with all kinds of benefits, including enhanced water security; natural and effective firebreaks and post-fire habitat; carbon capture and storage; improved drinking water quality; and rearing habitat for multiple imperiled salmonid species. However, beavers are classified as predatory animals in Oregon, a designation that allows beavers on private-land to be killed in unlimited numbers. Come join WELC Attorney John Mellgren on Zoom and learn about efforts WELC is making in the Oregon legislature to protect beavers and ensure they can always find a home in the Beaver State.

The West Is Burning: A Landmark Stories Documentary
The West is Burning is a new feature-length documentary that reveals the scale of wildfire issues facing the American West. The documentary examines the history of forest management and social conflict that led to longer fire seasons and unprecedented destruction. In the last 20 years, wildfires have burned an area the size of California and Florida combined. If nothing is done we’re likely to see a steady increase in wildfire impact. The film emphasizes the need to act now to generate positive change in our forests, watersheds, and communities.
Six real-life perspectives drive the film’s narrative to help raise awareness about the conditions of forests in the western U.S. Their stories demonstrate the need to embrace a new era of forest stewardship, and the unique partnerships that are being built across community-based organizations, government entities, and private and non-governmental organizations.
