OCA, Clallam County Emergency Management, and multiple partners invite you to an informative workshop focused on wildfire impacts on the Olympic Peninsula—and the steps you can take to protect yourself, your family, and your home.
This event marks the public rollout of the newly-completed Clallam County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), a community-driven effort developed in collaboration with multiple agencies and local residents.
(A similar Jefferson County CWPP was completed in 2024.)
The workshop will offer insights on wildfire history, local risk, and practical ways to increase your wildfire readiness, shared by speakers from:
- Clallam County Emergency Management
- Olympic Climate Action
- Washington State Department of Natural Resources
- Olympic Interagency Fire
- Clallam County Fire District 3
- WSU Master Gardeners
- Clallam County Health & Human Services
Topics will include:
- Overview of the CWPP
- Wildfire history on the Peninsula
- Creating defensible space around your home
- Firewise practices and community projects
- Fire-resistant landscaping and plant selection
- Wildfire smoke and public health
Handouts will be available, along with general disaster preparedness materials.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together to strengthen wildfire resilience across our community.
