The State Department of Natural Resources has introduced legislation under the name “Keep Washington Evergreen (KWE),” claiming “bold action” to promote “necessary resilience in our forests and communities to mitigate and adapt to our changing climate.”
But looking under the hood, we see a disconnect between such a lofty title and what the bill would actually accomplish…in fact, it could accelerate timber harvest in the name of climate action.
